Prefix
Prefix แปลว่า “อุปสรรค”หมายถึงคำที่ใช้เติมเข้าข้างหน้าคำอื่นแล้วทำให้คำคำนั้นมีความหมายผิดไปจากเดิมเราเรียนคำเช่นนี้ว่า “Prefix” = อุปสรรค
Suffix
Suffix เป็นส่วนของคำที่เติม เพื่อให้รากศัพท์มีความหมายชัดเจนขึ้น เช่น "ful"แปลว่า เต็มไปด้วย เพราะฉนั้น careful จึงแปลว่า เต็มไปด้วย เช่น careful beautiful useful meaningful ดังนั้นคำที่ลงท้ายด้วย "_ful" บอกเราว่าเต็มไปด้วยเช่น คำที่ mesningful คือ คำที่มากด้วยความหมายคำที่ลงท้ายด้วย suffix ส่วนใหญ่จะเปลี่ยนชนิดของตัว (part of speech) เช่น คำนาม , คำคุณศัพท์ , คำกริยา และคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ In every word above, the suffix "-ful" gives you the idea of "much of something."
